Ceramic is one of the oldest of art forms in the history of human civilization. Techniques have been developed and passed on from generation to generation. I consider my work to add to the body of knowledge. I believe among the reason most artists take advantage of this special medium is not only the joy of creating beautiful art pieces, but also to discover the utmost possibilities and the challenge of modern glazing and firing techniques. This helps to make clay as valuable as other art medium.I personally value clay more than just art medium, as I use it for therapy purpose as well. I find it most effective for healing progress. No doubt as a natural medium, clay has the capacity to quickly absorb and express what we are feeling. Probably for people who never had the opportunity to get in touch with this method of therapy, this may seem like nothing more than just messing about with wet mud. This requires a certain level of understanding and different perspective towards the value of the earth and what the nature can give back to us.The tranquility of working with clay, one does not require any sort of reinforcement to generate comfortable feelings from within to bring out to surface. As we know the importance of expression is natural reaction; this certainly will help those who has no basic art skill to discover their hidden ability. Working with clay helps to channel the mind through the fingers and this helps a person to release the tension. It allows the opportunity to exercise the eyes and hands- improve eye-hand coordination and stimulate neurological pathways from the brain to the hands. It is a great privilege if one has a creative mind to expand their ideas further and turn the clay into a beautiful art piece.'Touch' is a magic word to me, next to 'believe'. It is a very important part of our senses. With clay one can only feel and get more intimate with the touch once they are able to feel in the hands the varieties of structure from different sort of clay and soil, from silky smooth to sandy, and rough texture for different purpose. The basic to learn the essence and the soul of the soil . Character, strength and volume.Unlike working with other medium, the pleasure of working with clay to me is inimitable. I like the fluidity and the flexibility of clay in the beginning process. Almost vulnerable and tender. It requires such a gentle attention, and then slowly it develops into such an incredible strength. It has life of it's own. The immense pleasure, excitement and serenity is hard to explain. It feels right and intimate to my inner self where I could focus more on good and genuine side of my being. It is like discovering emotion which arouses deep layers of feelings and enables me to express experiences that otherwise remain hidden and buried.Ceramic certainly has opened up more doors to meaning and possibility that showed me into other art direction as well. I have moved on to another level of capabilities and achievements once only existed in my dream. I have discovered not only the mystery and and the beauty, but I have found the right way to channel my thoughts towards the right direction. As a nature lover, I look at most things around me as art existence. For life itself is beautiful and precious, when we realize every little thing serves its purpose. I try to grasp and embrace what life has to offer and be happy with what I have been given and what's hidden at the next corner. home and inspiration
